About CPS SORA Training

CPS SORA Training is a comprehensive online training platform designed to help aspiring and current security officers in New Jersey complete their state-mandated Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) certification and renewal requirements. Our platform delivers the full 24-hour Initial SORA Training course and the 8-hour Renewal Training course through an interactive, Zoom-based virtual classroom — eliminating the need for in-person attendance while maintaining full compliance with New Jersey State Police standards.

Our courses are built for individuals seeking to enter the private security industry, as well as licensed security officers who need to renew their credentials. We also support Law Enforcement officers seeking SORA certification and organizations of 20+ students who require dedicated group training sessions. Every student receives access to a structured curriculum covering all required SORA modules — including legal powers and limitations, use of force, emergency response, report writing, ethics, and NJ SORA regulations — along with module quizzes, a comprehensive final exam, and instructor verification.

CPS SORA Training was founded by Daniel Collins, a retired Newark Police Officer and NJ State-Approved SORA Instructor. Drawing on years of law enforcement experience and a deep commitment to community service, Daniel built this platform to make high-quality, accessible security officer training available to anyone in New Jersey. Our instructors guide students through every step of the licensing process — from coursework to instructor submission of results to the NJ State Police — ensuring each student is fully prepared to receive their official SORA license.
